Sea Star Theme III : Chest

From my second project from my Ceramics I class in Fall 2008.

We had to display an adequate ability to create three pieces using soft slabs, hardened slabs, and extruded coils.
We had a week to complete all three pieces.

The three pieces had to have a theme. I choose to connect them all together using sea stars/starfish.

This one was made with white clay and colored with brown, tan, blue, and yellow stains.

This was constructed with hardened slabs, which means letting the sheets of clay sit out for a few hours till they are dry enough to cut up and won't bend very much. Putting it together required slipping and scoring.

I sprayed on a clear glaze, and it was fired a second time.
